This year’s theme is “Leading the Evolution of Public Health”.  Conference activities will provide attendees with information, skills, and resources to help public health leaders continue to improve Wisconsin’s health by:

  • Identifying your responsibility for incorporating an equity lens in your public health practice.
  • Examining the impacts of place on individual and population health outcomes.
  • Discover approaches to promote the value of prevention.

Joseph Telfair, DRPH, MSW, MPH

Professor, Dual Chair and Karl E. Peace Distinguished Chair of Public Health, Georgia Southern University

Dr. Telfair brings nearly 30 years of experience working with the populations in primary care and public health settings directly as a clinician, researcher, evaluator, project director and advocate; he has been a public health faculty member and leader in three schools of public health for 23 years; been a faculty member, co-director or director of a number of HRSA, NIH and CDC funded training programs (as an MCH and Community Public health faculty, environmental health) and research and coordinating Centers. He has served and serves on numerous local, state, national and international expert medical, health and public health research and evaluation, advisory committees and workgroups/taskforces (as both member and leader) for numerous agencies including states of North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Alabama departments of public health, NIH, HRSA, DHHS (OPA, AHRQ), and CDC. He has developed materials for and taught courses designed to build, enhance the knowledge and skills of community, medical and public health workers in maternal and child health, research and evaluation design and methods, issues of access to, and utilization of, health care. He has extensive experience training, working with and assessing performance of providers at all level in USA and developing countries experiencing high levels of social, economic and health disparities including Africa, India, Pakistan, Malaysia and Sri Lanka.

Debra Joy Perez, PhD has extensive experience in developing and leading high-quality research, evaluation and monitoring practices in philanthropy. She has been a leader in advancing evidence-based practices in evaluation and building new fields of research in health, healthcare and evaluation. Debra is an expert in designing integrated processes to support evaluation, research and learning across discrete program areas. At Annie E. Casey Foundation expanded the adoption and implementation of a new performance management and measurement system across all programmatic and administrative functions.She also advanced internal protocols for evaluations and worked closely with program colleagues and external experts to develop and refine priority research agendas. Debra has worked in strategic philanthropy since 1997 when she served as Deputy Director of New Jersey Health Initiatives, a national program of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF). She has developed many national programs and projects in multiple areas including health care quality, public health, research and evaluation, addressing disparities and designing research training for fellows and scholars.

Hampton Inn Green Bay Downtown
An additional room block has been reserved at the Hampton Inn also connected to the KI Convention Center.  These rooms are available at a special group rate of $99.  To guarantee this rate, and to ensure a room will be available, reservations must be made by April 20, 2018. St. Brendan's Inn

An additional block at St. Brendan's Inn has been added. Please call  (920) 884-8484 in order to book your rooms at the rates of $89, $99, and $109 for a suite. Let them know you are under the WI Public Health Association room block. St. Brendan's Inn is located just .6 miles away from the KI Convention Center.
