Yesterday, the Wisconsin State Assembly passed several bills in which WPHA and WALHDAB have taken an official position. They include:

AB 128 - prohibiting the group insurance board from contracting for or providing abortion services. WPHA/WALHDAB oppose.

AB 444 - relating to hospice staff transferring the controlled substances of deceased persons to drug disposal programs. WPHA/WALHDAB support.

AB 499 - the regulation of nonferrous metallic mining, prospecting, exploration and bulk sampling, repealing administrative rules relating to wetlands, granting rule-making authority, and making an appropriation. WPHA/WALHDAB oppose.

SB 417- ratification of the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact, extending the time limit for emergency rule procedures, and providing an exemption from emergency rule procedures. WPHA/WALHDAB support.

The bills we support received very little debate as they have vast bipartisan support and are not controversial. Conversely, the bills we oppose received a fair amount of debate. Democrats shared our opposition and final votes were along party lines.
