Sad news about Colleague Don Neuert

Written by the Division of Public Health

It is with heavy hearts that we share news of the unexpected passing of our friend and colleague, Don Neuert, this past weekend.

Don had been with the Department of Health Services for more than 18 years, most of them in the Division of Public Health (DPH). He was dedicated to working with local public health, hospitals, and other partners to achieve emergency readiness in Wisconsin, and was fiercely passionate about this work and about DPH. Earlier this year, Don achieved his Masters degree in Homeland Security Studies from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California, winning an award for excellence for his thesis. He was excited to use all he had learned to continue his work here at DPH.

Don was also a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, Council President of the Beaver Dam City Council, and a man who always had a big smile, hearty laugh, and a helping hand for everyone he had the opportunity to get to know. Most importantly, he was a beloved son and brother, and the loving husband of Kelly and proudest of fathers to his daughter, Hannah. Our hearts are with them.

We will share information regarding services for Don as we know more.
