Calling all Communities:  Join the CHIA Community of Practice!

Looking to discuss alcohol-related community health improvement with your peers across Wisconsin?  Want to improve your skills in implementing and evaluating policy, systems, and environmental changes that address unhealthy and risky alcohol use?  Community Health Improvement in Action (CHIA) invites you to join its Community of Practice, which includes a Google Group, free webinars, and statewide summits.

CHIA Google Group
Over 170 members have joined the CHIA Google Group since its launch in January of 2015. Current discussion topics include the challenges of choosing effective policies and programs, collaborative leadership, and improving the alcohol environment at local festivals and events.

CHIA Google Group members can use their current email to view posts, start new conversations, and reply to others.  For those who would like to use the online interface (optional), a Google/Gmail account is needed and can be obtained free of charge.

CHIA Webinars
A series of ten CHIA educational webinars is planned, with one 1-hour webinar every few months through 2016.  So far, two webinars have been held:  “Best Practices in Community Health Improvement” and “Working Together in Community Health Improvement.” For a listing of past (archived), present, and future webinars, visit the Calendar under the Education and Events tab at www.WICommunityHealth.org.

Statewide Summits
Planned for the fall of 2015 and 2016, the CHIA statewide summits will help build momentum toward collective impact on alcohol-related community health improvement.  The summits are an opportunity for Community of Practice participants to meet in-person to collaboratively develop a shared vision and direction.

To join the CHIA Google Group, register for a webinar, or find out more about CHIA, please contact Sara Jesse at sara.jesse@badgerbay.co or visit “Resources for Improving Community Health” at www.WICommunityHealth.org.
