DHFS and DATCP issues

 

 

 

 

New DHFS/DATCP self evaluation tool:

Information on self evaluation was given out. Greg will send copies of the Evaluation Form to agents.  He would like them filled out online if possible.

Greg is looking for volunteers to test the self evaluations.

Tommye commended DHFS and DATCP for this much better approach. She will send a letter to Tom Seiger and Steve Steinhoff regarding this.

Update on FLIP and AMANDA:

 Greg Pallaske and Tom Leitzke

FLIP expected to be up and running March 1, 2006. First to use system will be state inspectors and new agents.  23 agents signed up to use FLIP, first is Racine.  State will pay for FLIP for 2 years after that state agencies using FLIP will have to contribute.

AMANDA mobile development suspended.

The two inspection systems are non-compatible; most agents do not want two separate inspection systems.

Tom Wittkoff would like DHFS and DATCP to give agents reports they would like so agencies can work with IT depts. and get reports.

MOU between DATCP and DHFS for various foods:

Dave St. Jules and Jim Kaplanek developed a policy regarding DHFS and DATCP responsibility regarding temporary restaurants and some permanent restaurants.  This policy at the section chief level.

Foodborne Illness Course:

Wayne Kopp

FDA is presenting a course on Foodborne Illness Investigation.  It will be held in Stevens Point March 7-9, 2006.  Wayne handed out information for registration. Wayne stated that Bioterrorism money may be used to pay the registration for this course.

 

 

 

WI Conference for Food Protection:

Wayne Kopp

Deadline to submit topics for discussion is January 23, 2006.

WALHDAB representative for this will be Hsing-Y Hsieh from Outagamie County.

Update on DATCP Fees:

Information was handed out regarding the fee increase for DATCP.  The fees become effective March 1, 2006. 

 

 

 

Misbranding of fish:

A draft handout for Fish Mislabeling was given out. DATCP would like agent input.

Processor or Wholesaler mislabeling DATCP will investigate.  Facility Mislabeling will be investigated by agents under the FOOD CODE Honest Labeling 3-601.12

A draft policy for sampling for pathogens at retail was handed out.  DATCP would like to train each agent so that sampling is done the same.

DHFS Issues

 

 

 

 

 

DHFS Agent meeting information: Greg Pallaske

 

State and Agent meeting in Mosinee,WI on Feb 21-23, 2006.  State attend Feb 21-22, Agents attend Feb 22-23.  Discussion on making it only two days long in the future.

Greg is looking for issues agents may have to discuss.

Greg will consider future meetings being 2 days.

School inspection update:

Two inspections required-what if we don’t do two-what happens? Nothing

Jim Kaplanek is putting information out on trainings.  DPI sending school staff.  MOU needs to be revised.  Current MOU runs 7-1-05 to 6-30-07

DPI guidelines for charging for school inspection is $210.00 full service and $85.00 satellite/inspection.

May 24 and 25, 2006 Conference at Kalahari-Partnerships at Work: Focusing on the Public Health System.

Would WEHA like to get involved with WPHA and WALHDAB lobbyist?  (WEHA issue)

Nancy will continue in this position

Tommye will continue directing the EH WALHDAB meetings unless someone else volunteers by our next meeting.

 

 

 

Other

*The Raw Milk Bill got to hearing but went no further.

*Everyone should sign up and use the ORU-it is a good overview.

*Wayne Kopp maintains the WCFP web page and will keep it up to date.

*Question was brought up regarding changing the meeting location.  Our group has grown and it is hard for us all to fit and discuss items in the current meeting room.
